5 Aug 2026
Meet Meeta Ramkumar (née Sharan), a proud lifelong Darwin resident and Cyclone Tracy survivor. Educated locally, she graduated from Northern Territory University (now CDU) with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Law and is a Fellow CPA.
The eldest daughter of Anand and Rita Sharan, Meeta is married to Ramkumar Konesparamoorthy and is the proud mother of Ishwar and Neena. She is also the sister of the late Sanjiv Sharan who Meeta supported when he had complications with diabetes and had an amputation.
After a successful 30-year career with the Northern Territory Government—she became one of its first female Chief Financial Officers and served as a Commissioner of the NT Grants Commission—Meeta took on a new challenge, becoming the sole owner of Limitless NT in July 2025.
A passionate community volunteer, Meeta serves as Treasurer of Darwin South Rotary and has sponsored children for more than 30 years through various charities. Inspired by the kindness shown to her family after Cyclone Tracy, she has dedicated much of her life to helping others.
Through supporting family members with disability and dementia-related challenges, Meeta has a deep understanding and lived experience into the importance of accessible support and care. Today, through Limitless NT, she is committed to helping Territorians access reliable, affordable products and making a positive difference in people’s lives every day.
We asked her a few questions about growing up in Darwin.
What is it that you love most about growing up in Darwin and why has it kept you here?. What I loved most about growing up in Darwin was the strong sense of family, friendship and community.
One of my fondest memories is when I was in primary school going to netball practice with my friend in the back of her dad’s ute with around 6 of us huddled together in the back tray enjoying the fresh air and no seatbelts! (you couldn’t do it now )
As a first-generation migrant, I was fortunate to grow up alongside people from many different cultures, all while enjoying Darwin’s relaxed lifestyle. It has always been a wonderful place to raise a family, with beautiful beaches, the Botanic Gardens and plenty of opportunities to balance work and family life.
I was lucky to have the support of my parents and mother-in-law in raising my children. As part of one of Darwin’s first Indian families, I’m proud that my father helped establish the city’s first Indian restaurant, Maharaja. I was also one of Darwin’s first Indian dancers, performing at many community events and later choreographing Bollywood performances for India at Mindil, one of Darwin’s most iconic festivals.
What was your favourite subject at school? I enjoyed maths and science at school and received an Academic Award in Year 10 for achieving the highest maths exam score in my class. I originally wanted to become a speech therapist, but as the course wasn’t available locally, I followed my dad’s advice and completed a Bachelor of Business in Accounting and Law. Give me a spreadsheet any day and I’m in my element!
What is the best thing about the line of work you are now doing? Every day is different, and I enjoy meeting new people and helping them find the right solutions for their needs. It’s incredibly rewarding to know I’ve made a positive difference. I’m also constantly learning about the wide range of equipment available—who knew there were so many types of wheelchairs, walkers, lift chairs and bathroom aids!
By continuing to support others, we can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives—one day at a time.
Meeta was speaking to Kim Farrar, Seniors Card Manager. This article was featured in the August edition of Seniors Voice.
