Seniors’ hotspot at the Royal Darwin Show

25 Jul 2023

Available online from Thursday 27 August 2023!

Seniors heading for the Royal Darwin Show during the weekend of 27 to 29th July should make a beeline for the COTA NT and Seniors Card stand upstairs in the Foskey Pavilion. This is the second year that COTA NT has exhibited at the Show following an award-winning debut in 2022 and there is full show bag of information to collect, as well as a fantastic raffle to enter.

COTA NT staff will be on hand throughout the weekend to talk about the organisation’s advocacy for seniors and its programs including NT Seniors Card, Aged Care Navigators, activities and events, volunteering and membership.

NT Seniors Card is launching its new Business Discount Directory for 2023/24 – the complete directory now lists over 480 businesses offering Seniors Card holders discounts on services and products. The printed edition specifically supports the ‘Store with a Door’ policy as all businesses listed in the new directory offer physical premises for seniors to visit and buy products, or a local Territory number to call for services.

NT Seniors Card and COTA NT are once again sponsoring the Show’s Photography awards conducted by The Darwin Camera Club. The winners of its sponsored classes, Photography of a Territory Senior, digital and print (Classes 8 and 14) will also be unveiled at the show.

Visitors to the COTA NT and Seniors Card stall can:

  • Pick up a new Business Discount Directory for 2023/24
  • Take home the latest edition of Seniors Voice (July-Sep 2023) edition featuring news, articles and of course Seniors Month highlights
  • A print copy of the Seniors Month Calendar for August 2023
  • Support COTA NT’s work by joining as a new Member or simply by purchasing a raffle ticket.

COTA NT’s fundraising raffle is raising funds to help seniors access aged care services. Two wonderful prizes have been donated – the first prize, an original artwork by indigenous artist Sarrita King valued at $2000 and second prize, a $600 voucher to spend at the House of Fulton Jewellery. Tickets are just $5 each (or $20 for 5). Raffle tickets are available at all COTA NT events during Seniors Month – and online – with the winners drawn on Thursday 31 August.

“We look forward to seeing our Members, friends – new and old – and all members of the public at the Show,” said Sue Shearer, CEO of COTA NT. “We are very happy to support the 72nd Show and help Territory seniors experience the best of the Territory.”
